Graduate Resilience Outreach and Wellness (GROW), in partnership with UAB Student Affairs, is proud to invite you to the Inaugural Suicide Prevention Conference! Beginning May 17, join UAB for two days of storytelling, activities, seminars, and more.
Registration is free and open to all UAB students, faculty and staff. The event will feature speakers such as Pam Benoit, Ph.D., UAB’s Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs, who will weave awareness and experience into her remarks, and AL Rep. Jeremy Gray, who will discuss how important it is to live a balanced life. All participants will have the opportunity to become empowered to intercede with someone who might be experiencing a personal crisis and become QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) certified.
Students will gather in person in the Hill Student Center Ballrooms on May 17-18 from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The first 75 students who register will receive complimentary breakfast and lunch throughout the conference.
Faculty and staff will gather remotely on May 17-18 from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. They’ll listen to conference speakers and participate in breakout sessions that will teach them how to intervene in a crisis, learn skills to help prevent burnout, and more.
