The UAB Division of Student Affairs has many exceptional staff members who serve our students with professionalism, kindness, and integrity. Each month, based on a pool of nominations, the Professional Development Committee announces the Employee of the Month.
The December Employee of the Month is Tiffany Holloway, an assistant director and career consultant for the UAB Career Center. Her extraordinary work ethic and commitment to the mission of the Division of Student Affairs makes her a staffer worthy of this recognition.
What nominators said about Tiffany Holloway
Tiffany Holloway joined the UAB Career Center team in June 2022 as Assistant Director and Career Consultant. Tiffany has hit the ground running, developing partnerships in the Schools of Education, Nursing, and Vulcan Materials Academic Success Center. Tiffany developed a strategy to meet and get up to speed on the career development efforts in each area. These efforts include meeting with several academic advisors, program managers, faculty, and staff. Tiffany developed a faculty directory for each academic area and went down this list, cold calling and meeting these key stakeholders.
Her efforts resulted in 37 scheduled classroom presentations last fall with an approximate reach of 1,200 students. In addition, Tiffany has ensured the students enrolled in all First Year Experience courses have student success resources that ensure they can connect their academic goals with career aspirations. Tiffany is working hard to ensure student success is foreseeable and achieved for the students at UAB.
Additionally, Tiffany was personally requested to be one of the emcees for Coming Out on the Green Drag Ball competition. Finally, Tiffany did much of the planning for the Tech Connect Computer Science Fair on Oct. 5, connecting 19 employers with over 180 students.
Furthermore, Tiffany suggested that the UAB Career Center participate in the 2022 Homecoming decoration competition. She not only proposed the idea, but she also made it happen, working on weekends, decorating the lobby, and rallying additional support from Career Center staff. The hard work paid off as the Career Center came in first place in the competition.
