UAB will no longer be using BSYNC effective July 5, 2018. A new platform called Engage will replace BSYNC as part of The Office of Student Involvement & Leadership’s commitment to make organizational management of Registered Student Organizations (RSOs) easier and more effective.
We believe you will find the new Engage platform much easier to use. However, UAB Pathfinders will provide regular training opportunities this fall for student leaders – and campus partners who interact with student groups – to help educate you on the new platform. A list of training dates will be distributed closer to the start of the fall semester. Training will also be provided during the fall RSO Summit (September 8).

See below for important dates:
- BSYNC will officially close on July 5, 2018.
- Organization’s profile, members, forms, files and photos will transfer over.
- For more details, see the “What students and student leaders should know” section below.
- Engage will open for organization renewal and use on July 16, 2018.
- Organizations will have until August 31 to renew their portals in Engage. After that date, organizations will be unable to renew (resulting in loss of official registration status and organization privileges) until January 1, 2019.
- RSO presidents will receive an email prompting them to login to Engage. Organizations are encouraged to ensure their president is updated in BSYNC prior to July 5.
- Engage will launch to the entire UAB community in August.
- It is recommended that RSOs register and begin updating profiles prior to this date.
In preparation for the swap, we’d like to try to answer some of the questions you may have.
What Students and Student Leaders should know:

What organization information will transfer over to Engage?
- Organization Name
- Short name or acronym
- Organization description
- Organization status (expired, current)
- Social media links (if uploaded)

Will RSO officers/administrators carry over to Engage?
- The most current administrator in your student organization’s BSYNC portal will carryover as the “primary contact” or administrator for the Engage organization.
- Don’t worry – in Engage, there will be plenty of opportunity to customize and highlight officers!
- Preparation suggestion: Go in under the “People” tab in BSYNC and only list the organization’s designated, primary contact as the “administrator” for each group by July 5!

Will student organization’s roster/current members transfer over?
- All members currently listed in BSYNC will carry over to the organization’s Engage account.
- Preparation suggestion: Go ahead and update student member lists in the “People” tab in BSYNC prior to July 5 to ensure an accurate roster in Engage!

Will organizational forms move over to Engage?
- Forms and form submissions with an approved, denied or pending status will carry over into the organization’s Engage account.
- Form submissions with a deferred status in BSYNC will migrate to Engage as pending since deferred is not a status utilized in Engage.
- Preparation suggestion: Get a clean start! Go ahead and delete any old forms that a student organization no longer needs or uses. Whatever is in a student org’s forms folder will transfer.

Will files and documents uploaded to a BSYNC organization page transfer to Engage?
- All files will come over into one folder titled "OrgSync." Once the files are in Engage, org leaders can determine how to organize their files.
- Preparation suggestions: Delete any old files your student organization no longer needs or uses! To be safe, go ahead and save your organization’s Constitution & Bylaws and any banking documents externally.

If photos have been uploaded into an album or organization page, will they transfer?
- Yes! The name of the album, cover and photos will carry over.
Stay tuned for more Engage updates, and start preparing for the transition by cleaning up your organization’s membership roster, forms, and files. All updates must be made by July 5 to see it reflected in Engage!
