60 MSOT students attend AOTA
Approximately 60 students from UAB OT attended the AOTA conference. The department was fortunate to be able to support 22 students with scholarships to help with registration fees. Other students received support from our Student Occupational Therapy Association (SOTA) and we thank everyone who helped with the many fundraising efforts they conducted throughout the year.
To gain an insight into their experience I encourage you to read Maya Barcelli's (UAB MSOT, Class of 2020) Blog post. She describes how it changed the way she looks at being an occupational therapist and being a student: "I look up to the faculty members and recognize that they have contributed greatly to the occupational therapy profession. I see my fellow cohort members and realize we are the future of this profession, and I believe we are capable of greatness."
Blog follows UAB OT student's educational journey
Martin Davis (UAB MSOT, Class of 2020) is the owner of the Blog that shared Maya's work. He is not your ordinary OT student or person for that matter - you can learn a lot about him on his "About Me" webpage.
He has been documenting his and his classmates' journey through school here at UAB. Davis' writing is reflective and an enjoyable read that captures the day-to-day life of a modern-day OT student.
