Submit a Funding Opportunity
To reduce newsletter volume and streamline communication, all internal research funding announcements are now centralized here, and all extramural opportunities are publicized through the Research Matters newsletter. New opportunities are added as they are released. UAB units may request publicity of funding opportunities by completing the following form.

UAB Nutrition Obesity Research Center Pilot & Feasibility Program
The Nutrition Obesity Research Center (NORC) invites full-time UAB faculty to apply for one of three pilot funding awards up to $50,000/year to support new research in nutrition sciences or obesity. Pre-proposal applications are due February 28, 2026.

GC-CODED Pilot and Feasibility Grant Program
The UAB Global Center for Craniofacial Oral and Dental Disorders (GC‐CODED) is pleased to announce the availability of two pilot and feasibility grants for up to $50,000 each. Interested faculty should submit an application through InfoReady by February 28, 2026.

Community Health Innovation Pilot Grants
The UAB Center for the Study of Community Health (CSCH) invites applications for innovative pilot research projects focused on improving community health. Awards range from $10,000 to $50,000. Interested faculty should apply by March 2, 2026.

SEBLAB Research Pilot Grant
The Southeastern Biosafety Laboratory Alabama Birmingham (SEBLAB) Research Pilot Grant seeks to foster innovative research on Risk Group-3 pathogens that require Biosafety Level-3 containment. Full-time faculty are invited to apply for one of three $25,000 awards. Letters of interest are due April 1, 2026.

NRTC/Division of Nephrology MPI Pilot Award Program
The UAB Nephrology Research and Training Center (NRTC) and the Division of Nephrology invite faculty to apply for pilot funding for multi-investigator collaborations in research in kidney-related diseases. Up to $40,000 per year in project-related direct costs can be requested for the proposal. Interested faculty should submit a letter of intent by April 3, 2026.
