Matt Ronning is a 35+ year veteran fraud examiner and has served as the Research Integrity Officer for several Universities. From a progressive research administration career in operational and leadership roles, Mr. Ronning is experienced supporting faculty, researchers, and organizational leadership transcend countless intellectual and administrative chasms that threaten achievement. Mr. Ronning’s career accomplishments include investing, founding, and leading start-up companies as well as negotiating complex joint ventures and innovative partnerships under strict C-suite and governance oversight.

Matt Ronning is currently the Director of Research Integrity Assurance and is appointed by the Institutional Official as a Research Integrity Officer. As the Research Integrity Officer, Mr. Ronning leads the procedural adjudication of allegations of research misconduct involving multiple assessment, inquiry, and investigation committees, complainants, witnesses, respondents, journals, and sponsors interests. Additionally, Mr. Ronning is (1) spearheading a revitalization of UAB’s Responsible Conduct of Research training enterprise; (2) examining LabArchive’s implementation and forming strategy to evolve best practices in Research Data Management at UAB; and, (3) championing integrity tools to assist authors and investigators from inadvertently publishing questionable research results (e.g., Proofig AI, iThenticate, RefGuard, etc.).
