UAB Medicine is moving its drive-thru testing site to the the UAB Hospital-Highlands parking deck effective Aug. 9.

Trustees approved the final stage of planning for construction of a UAB Technology Innovation Center and renovations to the former Snoozy’s Bookstore to house UAB’s Honors College. 

Traffic lanes and sidewalks along University Boulevard and 20th Street South will be closed June 3-Aug. 31 to ensure pedestrian and traffic safety during the renovation of McCallum Basic Health Science Building and demolition of UAB Townhouse.

The 231,000-square-foot U-shaped building will house 780 students, plus dedicated study spaces, a storm shelter, multi-use office space and a dining venue with three food vendors and a 250-person seating capacity.

UAB Transportation Services is aware of the issues and is addressing them with First Transit to resolve the situation as soon as possible.

The addition of Collat School of Business, School of Nursing plus Lister Hill and Sterne libraries completes Phase I of the roll-out that began with the Shelby Research building in September.
