The Division of Preventive Medicine (DOPM) is recruiting a post-doctoral researcher to join a dynamic, interdisciplinary team of social-behavioral scientists studying self-management of cancer and cardiometabolic disease. We at the DOPM are dedicated to improving health outcomes through collaborative research, training, community engagement, dissemination and translation of knowledge.
We seek a postdoctoral researcher interested in integrating into our research team which has expertise in community-based intervention research, qualitative methods, and mixed methods among minoritized and marginalized populations. The postdoctoral fellow will have the opportunity to train with Dr. Nolan’s NIH- and American Heart Association-funded studies involving intervention co-development and testing of manualized, culturally-sensitive interventions to promote quality of life in young Black breast cancer survivors and cardiovascular health in Black men. The postdoctoral researcher will receive exposure to application of academic-community-government partnerships to support research and service. Further, the postdoctoral researcher will have access to the stellar research training environment that is at the University of Alabama at Birmingham including but not limited to other NIH-funded researchers, the Center for Clinical and Translational Sciences, and the Minority Health & Health Equity Research Center.
Importantly, the postdoctoral researcher will be encouraged to build a foundation for their personal line of research inquiry with support for grant submissions, publications, conference travel and career development activities.
