Spear phisher targeted eBay employees

It is unclear how many eBay employees fell for the scam. According to computer-forensics expert Gary Warner of the University of Alabama at Birmingham, it appears the alleged spear phisher netted credentials for six eBay employees, which because of other security measures in place, had to be used "immediately."

Study: Malaria sprang from gorillas to humanity

In the current Nature, a team led by Beatrice Hahn of the University of Alabama at Birmingham report that genetic samples from wild apes in Africa pin the Plasmodium falciparum microbe's origin to gorillas, and not chimps or earlier human species.
