BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Lecture Series will present Christian Lander, creator of the wildly popular blog, "Stuff White People Like," at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26 in the UAB Hill University Center Alumni Auditorium, 1400 University Blvd. The event is free and open to the public. Call 205-934-8225 for more details.

Lander's presentation is an amusing, satirical one-man show that he calls "a lecture that investigates, explains and offers advice for finding social success with the Caucasian persuasion."

Lander, who is white, lampoons the white middle-class in the blog that since has become a book of the same name. According to Lander, "They love nothing better than sipping fair trade gourmet coffee, leafing through the Sunday New York Times and listening to David Sedaris on NPR - ideally at the same time. ... They are also down with diversity and up on all of the best microbrews, breakfast spots, foreign cinema and authentic sushi."

Lander has appeared on shows such as "Late Night With Conan O'Brian," and "Last Call With Carson Daly." He is a Ph.D. dropout who was the "2006 Speaking Instructor of the Year" at Indiana University.
