A $25,200 gift from the Mobile Area Dental Society has created a new annual scholarship for students at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Dentistry.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - A $25,200 gift from the Mobile Area Dental Society has created a new annual scholarship for students at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Dentistry.

The Mobile District Dental Society Endowed Scholarship is open to students who are residents of, have graduated high school from, or have earned an undergraduate degree at an institution of higher learning in one of the counties represented by the society. They are Mobile, Baldwin, Choctaw and Washington counties. The University of Alabama System Board of Trustees recently approved the endowed scholarship.

The society's members include dentists from Mobile, Baldwin, Choctaw and Washington counties. It is one of nine district-based groups within the Alabama Dental Association.
