BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Liver Center is hosting "Liver U - Straight Talk for Your Health," 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday Feb. 26 at the Gardendale Civic Center, 857, Main St., Gardendale, Ala. The discussion topic for the event will be fatty liver disease and nutrition.

UAB Liver Center Nurse Practitioner Tracey Gwaltney, C.R.N.P., and nurse Cindy Joiner, R.N., will discuss nutrition and the proper diet for those with liver disease, crash diets and diet pills, sample menus and nutritional information on fast foods and eating out.

The UAB Liver Center, established in 1995, offers specialized care to children and adults with all types of liver and biliary tract diseases, develops research programs to support clinical care, and educates professionals and the public about liver disease.
