BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB History Department's colloquium series will present "Of Love & Politics: The Remarkable Career of Manuela Sáenz (1797-1856)," 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, at Heritage Hall, Room 102, 1401 University Blvd.

The lecture will be presented by UAB Associate Professor of History Pamela S. Murray, Ph.D., author of the biography "For Glory and Bolívar: The Remarkable Life of Manuela Sáenz." The book tells the story of Manuela Sáenz, the celebrated mistress of the Spanish American independence hero Simon Bolivar.

Murray teaches in the UAB Department of History. She is a historian of modern Latin America.
