BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB African-American Studies Program will present a lecture, "African American Cemeteries as a Treasure House of Genealogical Studies: The Shadow Lawn Project," at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, at the UAB Hill University Center, Boardroom, 1400 University Blvd.

The guest speaker will be Miquelle Fields-Jones, CEO of Perseverance Writers Group, LLC. Fields-Jones will talk about genealogy and how it has been used to uncover historical information about families, communities and historic sites like Shadow Lawn Memorial Gardens cemetery in Birmingham.
