Featuring UAB Assistant Professor Jessica Dallow, Ph.D., from the UAB Department of Art and Art History with her lecture "Tracing Women Artist Families: A Story of the Peale and Saar Sisters." The lecture is free. Call 205-934-2290 for details. The lecture will examine the theme of female artistic inheritance through the connections between 19th-century American sister artists Sarah Miriam and Anna Claypoole Peale and contemporary African-American sister artists Alison and Lezley Saar.

UAB Associate Professor of French Serge Bokobza, Ph.D., will present his lecture "Liberty Versus Equality: The Marquis de La Fayette and France." The lecture is free. Call 205-934-2290 for details. Bokobza will discuss the life of 18th century French aristocrat Marquis de La Fayette who aided the Americans during its struggle for independence.

UAB Associate Professor of English Daniel Anderson, will present his lecture "When Poems Think Out Loud: What's Confessional (and What is Not)." The lecture is free. Call 205-934-2290. Anderson teaches creative writing at UAB. His work has appeared in Yale Review, Harper's, The New Republic and Best American Poetry. His books of poetry include "Drunk in Sunlight" and "January Rain."
