| Laurie Garrett, nationally recognized reporter and author of “Betrayal of Trust” and “The Collapse of Global Public Health,” began her journalism career as a science news reporter for KPFA, a radio station in Berkeley, Calif. She went on to hold several other journalism positions in the U.S. and abroad before joining Newsday in 1988. She is the recipient of numerous awards for her work, including the three big “Ps” of journalism — the Peabody, Polk and Pulitzer awards. Garrett is a biology graduate of the University of California in Santa Cruz. She now resides in Brooklyn Heights, N.Y. |
