University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) psychology doctoral student Despina Stavrinos, of Pleasant Grove, has received the Dwight D. Eisenhower Fellowship through the U.S. Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration. The award comes with a $1,500 stipend for travel expenses to the Transportation Research Board meeting in January.

University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) psychology doctoral student Despina Stavrinos, of Pleasant Grove, has received the Dwight D. Eisenhower Fellowship through the U.S. Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration. The award comes with a $1,500 stipend for travel expenses to the Transportation Research Board meeting in January.

UAB senior Donna Murdaugh, 21, of Lawrenceville, Ga., has been named as the 2008 Outstanding Student in the UAB Department of Psychology. Winners are judged based on academic achievement and their community service activities. Murdaugh is a member of the UAB University Honors Program and the Psychology Honors Program. She is the daughter of George and Teresa Murdaugh of Lawrenceville, Ga.

UAB senior Heather Norris, 21, of Oak Mountain, was recently presented with the UAB Department of Psychology's Passey Award. The award is presented annually to the student with the best overall achievement in academics and research. Norris is the daughter of Gary and Tammy Norris of Birmingham.
