Dothan Resident Named “Scholar of the Year”

Christopher D. Watson, 21, of Dothan has been named as the UAB Minority Scholars Program (MSP) Scholar of the Year.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Christopher D. Watson, 21, of Dothan has been named as the UAB Minority Scholars Program (MSP) Scholar of the Year.

Watson, a senior, was presented with the honor at the UAB Minority Scholars Program Award and Graduation ceremony held Friday, April 18, at UAB. Watson was elected by more than 50 current MSP students.

To be eligible, students must be a senior, have an outstanding academic record, have leadership experience and must be active in MSP activities. Watson is a biopsychology major with minors in chemistry and health sciences. He is a member of the UAB University Honors Program and was recently selected for the national Teach for America Program. Watson is the son of Willie and Jacqueline Guilford of Dothan.
