BIRMINGHAM, AL — L. Kristi Sayers, Ph.D., has joined the faculty of the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Education as an assistant professor in the department of human studies.
Sayers’ research interests include adapted physical education for infants, toddlers and children with physical disabilities. She is the co-author of the 1998 book Pediatric Adapted Motor Development and Exercise: An Innovative, Multisystem Approach for Families and Professionals published by Charles C. Thomas.
She is a former assistant professor at the University of Montevallo and has been an adjunct professor at UAB. From 1995 until 1998, she was project coordinator for Project Pediatric Adapted Motor Development (PAMD) at the University of New Orleans’ Department Human Performance and Health Promotion. She earned her bachelor’s degree in health, physical education and special education from Louisiana College in 1993. She earned her master’s and doctoral degrees from the University of New Orleans in 1994 and 1999 respectively.
Sayers is a native of Mansfield, Louisiana.
