BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) will present a lecture by Egyptologist Edwin "Ted" Brock on the reconstruction of the sarcophagus of Pharaoh Ramses VI, 5:30-7 p.m. Friday, May 2, at Heritage Hall, Room 106, 1401 University Blvd. Admission is free and open to the public.

Brock will discuss how he and his team reconstructed a sarcophagus from one of the largest tombs in the Valley of the Kings - that of Pharaoh Ramses VI. The sarcophagus was pieced together from 250 fragments likely broken and scattered in the pharaoh's tomb by ancient tomb robbers, said UAB Egyptologist Sarah Parcak, Ph.D. Ramses VI ruled nearly 3,100 years ago.

Brock's lecture is sponsored by the Office of the Dean of the UAB School of Social and Behavioral Sciences and the UAB Laboratory for Global Health Observation.

Brock is an archaeologist and Egyptologist with more than 25 years of excavation experience at archaeological sites in places, including the East Delta, Alexandria, Memphis, East Karnak and the Valley of the Kings. He has been featured on numerous television documentaries for the Discovery Channel and the History Channel.
