WHAT:

Beginning August 11, UAB students can surf to iSay.uab.edu, where they can help design a new student affairs Web site by suggesting what information, services, features and links they can use. Each week a new topic will be posted and students can respond with their ideas. The first topic is the current student affairs Web site and what students like or don’t like about it. Every time a student posts a message or suggestion to iSay, they’ll be registered to win valuable prizes, including a free ski trip and $25 and $50 gift certificates for food and textbooks.

WHO:

All currently enrolled students and incoming freshman at UAB are invited to visit the site and share their ideas. Postcards will be mailed to incoming freshmen, as well as freshmen and sophomores enrolled during summer 2000. Information packets will be distributed to all students moving into campus housing this fall.

WHEN:

Students can log on to the iSay Web site August 11.

WHY:

By inviting students to share their ideas, the student affairs Web site can be custom-developed to meet their needs. The iSay Web site allows students to comment and give immediate feedback, said Virginia Gauld, Ph.D., vice president of UAB Student Affairs. “We want to serve students the way they want to be served,” says Gauld.
