Reilly, Ph.D., professor of computer and information sciences at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, has been elected to the European Academy of Sciences in the Computer Science section. He was cited for “outstanding and lasting contribution to computer science technologies applied to biomedical problems.” Reilly’s research and expertise is in computer modeling and simulation, artificial intelligence and software engineering. In simulation and artificial intelligence, his research addresses the human element within systems, formal logic information structures applicable to man and machine and neural network and other biologically inspired models. Reilly earned his Ph.D. in biomathematics from the University of Chicago, his master’s in physics from the University of Nebraska and his bachelor’s in mathematics from Creighton University. He has been published in a number of refereed journals, including International Journal of Neural Networks, Transactions of the Society for Computer Simulation, Developmental Review and International Journal of Developmental Neuroscience. His recent conference and symposium presentations include SCI 2000 - the World Multiconference on Systemics, Cybernetics and Informatics and the 33rd Annual Simulations Symposium — The Society for Computer Simulation International. Members of the academy are elected on the basis of their distinguished and unique contribution to modern science and technology. The objective of the academy is to establish efficient collaboration among scientists, researchers, educators, engineers and public authorities worldwide. It promotes interaction between basic and applied research and eases transfer of knowledge. |
