BIRMINGHAM, AL — University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) associate Professor Larry Tyson, Ph.D., is co-editor of a new book Critical Incidents in Group Counseling, published by the American Counseling Association.

The new book examines common problems that occur within group counseling sessions. The incidents provide the means for learning about the difficult decisions group leaders face and serves to create learning opportunities for further discussion. The book is the second in a series. Tyson co-edited the book with Jim Whitledge, a counselor with the Oakland Schools in Michigan and Rachelle Pérusse, Ph.D., a professor at State University of New York, Plattsburgh.

Tyson teaches in the UAB School of Education’s Department of Human Studies. He also is program adviser of the department’s school counseling program.
