University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) political scientist Steven H. Haeberle, Ph.D., has been named editor of a new political science journal, the Journal of Gay and Lesbian Politics.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) political scientist Steven H. Haeberle, Ph.D., has been named editor of a new political science journal, the Journal of Gay and Lesbian Politics.

Haeberle, an associate professor in the UAB Department of Government, has been a member of the American, Southern, Midwest and Western Political Science associations. He is the author of The Gay and Lesbian Rights Movement: Changing Policy! Changing Minds? which is forthcoming in 2004 from Rowman & Littlefield Publishers.

Haeberle earned his undergraduate degree from Marshall University in 1975. He earned his masters’ degrees in political science and in public policy and his doctorate in political science from Duke University in 1978, 1979 and 1981 respectively. He has been a member of the UAB faculty since 1982.

The Journal of Gay and Lesbian Politics will facilitate discourse on the politics of sexual orientation and encourage academic discussion on all aspects of sexual minority politics.
