BIRMINGHAM, AL — The UAB School of Business 30th Anniversary Alumni Relations Campaign has been named the Award of Excellence recipient in the Alumni Relations Projects category at the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), District III, Advancement Awards Program.

CASE is the international association of college and university public relations, advancement and alumni affairs professionals that includes more than 3,000 member schools in the United States, Canada, Mexico, and 42 other countries. The school’s campaign was selected as the best project among 22 entries from colleges and universities in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.

The award recognizes the year-long comprehensive alumni relations campaign for 2001, the school’s 30th anniversary year. This included a 30th birthday party designed to increase awareness of the school among its constituents and the community; a variety of student activities to increase student interaction with alumni; and a winter luncheon honoring alumni and bolstering community awareness about alumni accomplishments.

“This award is a wonderful recognition of the hard work put forth by our alumni relations staff,” said Eva Hanson, director of development, alumni and external relations for the UAB School of Business. “It also is a wonderful testament to the accomplishments of our faculty, staff and alumni, because without their support and commitment to the school, we could not achieve our goals.”

Staff working on this project under Hanson’s direction were Alumni Relations and External Relations Associate Leslie Murphy and Development Associate Lindsay Weidinger Murray.
