The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Department of History will present a free, public lecture by University of Pennsylvania Law Professor Wendell Pritchett titled “Kelo’s Dilemma: Eminent Domain and the Public Interest in American History and Politics.” The lecture will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, December 1, in the UAB Mervyn Sterne Library, Henley Room, 917 13th Street South.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Department of History will present a free, public lecture by University of Pennsylvania Law Professor Wendell Pritchett titled “Kelo’s Dilemma: Eminent Domain and the Public Interest in American History and Politics.” The lecture will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, December 1, in the UAB Mervyn Sterne Library, Henley Room, 917 13th Street South.

Pritchett will discuss the history and contemporary application of eminent domain. He will highlight the recent Kelo decision of the U.S. Supreme Court.

Pritchett is an associate professor of law at the University of Pennsylvania where he teaches poverty law, urban policy and legal history. He is author of the book, Brownsville, Brooklyn: Blacks, Jews and the Changing Face of the Ghetto.
