UAB Hospital will hold a ceremony honoring veterans as part of Veterans Day activities at 9 a.m. Friday, Nov. 10. The hospital has recently created a new affinity group, VAMFF, which stands for Veterans, Active Military, Family and Friends. VAMFF is dedicated to providing camaraderie, support and assistance to meet the specific needs of military-affiliated personnel by addressing opportunities, options and obstacles faced by patients and their loved ones, as well as UAB employees.
The Veterans Day celebration will include recognition of veterans, a photo display, and a presentation by one employee on her experiences during active-duty deployment, return to UAB and reintegration to the work environment.
The event will take place on the second floor atrium of the North Pavilion.
“The mission of the UAB Veterans, Active Military, Family and Friends group is to promote a community of inclusion, wellness and growth both within and beyond the walls of UAB,” said Anthony Patterson, senior vice president for Inpatient Services at UAB Medicine.
