The University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine will celebrate Match Day 2016 on Friday, March 18, at the Alys Stephens Performing Arts Center. Match Day is when members of the graduating class learn the medical specialty for which they have matched and where they will carry out their residency training.
The first match will be announced at 11 a.m. Doors open at 9:30 a.m. with a short program beginning at 10:30 a.m. You can watch the ceremony live at www.uab.edu/matchday. The Alys Stephens Performing Arts Center is located at 1200 10th Ave. South.
Match Day is coordinated by the National Resident Matching Program, which provides an impartial venue for matching residency programs with more than 41,000 applicants — including graduates from U.S. medical schools, international medical schools and U.S. osteopathic schools — who compete for available positions each year.
