Birmingham,
Thank you for supporting our regular season C-USA championship run. We’ve locked in a #1 seed in the C-USA tournament and will play at noon on March 10. We need your help to create a home court advantage at Legacy Arena, extend our 28 game Birmingham winning streak and earn a second-straight NCAA Tournament bid. I hope Birmingham companies just might consider allowing employees to enjoy a long lunch March 10 to cheer us on.
It is an honor coaching basketball at UAB because this institution’s successes and $5 billion annual economic impact benefit you. Whether you bleed green, crimson, orange or another color, we can all appreciate the estimated $8 million hosting a successful C-USA Tournament brought us last year with a winning host team.
With the tournament back in Birmingham, we have a great opportunity to share similar success on and off the court. We are a national leader in blocked shots and assists, shooting nearly 50 percent from the field, and outscoring our opponents by more than 10 points a game. Fans of ours and other schools continue to tell me we’re fun to watch and representing our city well.

One year ago we entered the conference tournament seeded fourth. Exactly one week after that, we entered the NCAA Tournament with great momentum as C-USA Champions and upset #3 seeded Iowa State. With a more experienced team and a top seed in the C-USA Tournament, imagine the bracket busting we could do this year.
We are proud to be Birmingham’s team and appreciate your support.
Go Blazers! Go Birmingham!
