If you have resolved to clean up your act in 2016, ArtPlay can help with three one-day workshops dedicated to the practice of feng shui.
ArtPlay, on the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s campus, is the Alys Stephens Performing Arts Center’s home for arts education and outreach.
Feng shui is the ancient and modern art and science of using color, direction, object arrangement, psychology and intention to promote good vibes in one’s environment and, thereby, one’s life; it has also been defined as the art of creating harmony and balance in a space. The translation from Chinese is literally “wind, water.”
In January and February, ArtPlay will present three two-hour workshops, taught by certified feng shui consultant Katie Rogers. The cost of each workshop is $27, or sign up for all three for $70. Each workshop is set for 1-3 p.m. at ArtPlay, 1006 19th St. South.
On Saturday, Jan. 9, ArtPlay will present “Declutter the New Year With Feng Shui.” This workshop will focus on living a simplified, uncluttered life with less stuff. Rogers will offer tips to implement in your everyday life and inspiration to get started.
On Saturday, Jan. 30, Rogers will teach “Intro to Feng Shui,” including the ancient art and science of placement: how to place objects in your home to move toward happiness, health and abundance.
On Saturday, Feb. 27, “Enhance Your Creativity With Feng Shui” will include Rogers’ tips and exercises for shifting your space so it flows smoothly and allows for greater self-expression.
