The American Urological Association (AUA) and the Urology Care Foundation have recognized 21 researchers as recipients of the 2020 Urology Care Foundation Research Scholar Awards. Two of those recipients are Anirban Kundu, Ph.D., postdoctoral researcher, and Joseph Crivelli, M.D., endourology fellow.
Anirban Kundu, Ph.D., will receive a two-year research award for studies focused on castration-resistant prostate cancer and kidney cancer, respectively. Dr. Kundu will be mentored by Sunil Sudarshan, M.D., and Pran Datta, Ph.D., at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Joseph Crivelli, M.D., will receive an award for a two-year study on kidney stone formation at the University of Alabama at Birmingham under the mentorship of Dean Assimos, M.D., and Ross Holmes, Ph.D.
These awards provide $40,000 per year for two-year mentored research training. They are critically important in developing future research leaders and improving patients' lives through better understanding of the development and management of urologic diseases and conditions.
