Shubha McClelland, M.D., PGY1, joined the UAB Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurobiology in June 2024. A native of Homewood, Alabama, McClelland completed her undergraduate and medical degrees at the University of South Alabama in Mobile.

Get to know Dr. McClelland better with three quick questions!

What do you look forward to about training in the UAB Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurobiology and/or UAB in general?

McClelland: UAB is a large hospital system, which means we get to see a wide variety of patient cases. When I'm done with my training here, I know I'll be well-prepared to practice independently.

What do you like to do when you’re not at work?

McClelland: I'm a big reader. I love mysteries, thrillers, and cheesy romance. When I'm not at work, you can usually find me tucked under the covers reading on my Kindle.

What is one item on your bucket list?

McClelland: I would love to one day see the northern lights in person!
