Emma Cao, M.D., PGY1, joined the UAB Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurobiology in June 2024. A native of Mountain Brook, Alabama, Cao completed her undergraduate degree at Auburn University and medical school at the UAB Heersink School of Medicine.

What do you like to do when you're not at work?

I am always reading! (My Kindle might as well be surgically attached to me.)

What is your favorite holiday, and why?

Christmas, because it's the one holiday my family all makes sure to spend together, and we have a lot of fun traditions (like getting Chinese takeout on Christmas Day).

What is one item on your bucket list?

There are a lot of things I have yet to check off, but I'm looking forward to experiencing Tết in Ho Chi Minh City for the first time.
