The UAB Department of Psychiatry is delighted to announce that Dr. Jesse "Tobias" Martinez has accepted the invitation to join the faculty of the UAB Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurobiology effective July, 2016. He will be appointed as Assistant Professor and will hold the title Director of Psychiatric Consultation/Liaison and Emergency Services.

His primary responsibilities will be largely at Children’s of Alabama, where he will split his time between outpatient and Consultation/ED patient care. Dr. Martinez received his MD from the University of Texas campus in San Antonio and then came to UAB where he completed his General Psychiatry Residency before transferring to the UAB Fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Dr. Martinez is presently completing his Child and Adolescent Psychiatry fellowship, where he has distinguished himself as a wonderful clinician, and currently serves as one of the Chief Residents. In addition to his service as Chief Resident of the Child program, Dr. Martinez has been active in service areas, including leadership roles in our departmental Resident Association and serving on several committees within the department and at Children’s of Alabama.
