UAB's Department of Pathology is thrilled to announce three new faculty members will be joining the team. Dr. Wenjing (Wency) Cao will join the pathology faculty beginning August 1, 2017, and Drs. Virginia Duncan and Jessica Tracht will be joining July 1, 2018.

Dr. Cao received her M.D./Ph.D. degree from Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan, China and postdoctoral training from the University of Pennsylvania and Temple University, Philadelphia, PA before joining UAB Pathology. Starting August 1st, 2017, Dr. Cao will be appointed to the rank of instructor in UAB Pathology's Division of Laboratory Medicine. Her research focuses on Pathogenesis of Thrombotic Microangiopathy and Structure-Function of Coagulation Factor VIII.

Upon completion of her fellowship training in Gastro-Intestinal Pathology at Emory University,  Dr. Jessica Tracht will join UAB's Division of Anatomic Pathology starting July 1, 2018 and will be appointed to the rank of assistant professor. Her service work will be in the areas of GI pathology and Cytopathology.

Dr. Virginia Duncan will also start on July 1, 2018 following completion of a pediatric pathology fellowship training at the University of Washington in Seattle. She will be appointed to the rank of assistant professor in UAB's Division of Anatomic Pathology and her service contributions will be in the areas of pediatric and perinatal pathology, nephropathology and surgical pathology.
