On April 1, 2022, the Department of Pathology welcomes a new faculty member to the Division of Women’s Health.

Valeria Dal Zotto, M.D., joins the Department as Assistant Professor, Women’s Health. Dr. Dal Zotto was previously a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina.

Dal Zotto received her medical degree from the Universidad de Buenos Aires, Facultad de Ciencias Medicas in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1995. She completed her residency in anatomic pathology in Hospital de Clinicas’ Department of Pathology in 1999 before completing a surgical pathology fellowship at Sanatorio Mater Dei, Buenos Aires. In 2017, she completed a second residency in combined anatomic and clinical pathology at the University of South Alabama’s College of Medicine and a second fellowship in surgical pathology in the Mayo Clinic’s Department of Pathology.

Before joining East Carolina University, Dal Zotto served as Assistant Professor at the University of South Alabama Medical Center. She previously served as Staff Pathologist and Director of the Service of Pathology in Hospital Evangelico, Siguatepeque, Comayagua, Honduras, from 2007-2010.

Dal Zotto is a member of the Argentinean Society of Pathology, the American Society of Clinical Pathology, the College of American Pathologists, the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology, the Alabama Association of Pathologists and the National Society for Histotechnology.
