Greg Davis, M.D., FASCP, Professor and Division Director, Forensic Pathology, became President elect of the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) during the organization's annual meeting the first week of September. Davis was sworn in as President-elect for 2024-25 on September 6 in Chicago, having previously served as vice president of this professional group with more than 100,000 members worldwide.
As he told the ASCP in an interview for their "Critical Values" newsletter last year, Davis became involved with the organization writing exercises for ASCP "Case Reports" (known as "CheckSample" at the time). He soon became a section editor for the forensic pathology series. As he states in the article, "I hope to pass along the conviction that my teachers had that pathology and laboratory medicine are important disciplines worthy of a lifetime of practice."
Davis earned his MSPH from the UAB School of Public Health in 2001 and recently gave an interview on the UAB Alumni podcast, UAB Green & Told. In 2000 he joined the Department of Pathology as an associate professor, and became professor in 2005. He was named Division Director of Forensics in 2013, and is Chief Coroner/Medical Examiner for Jefferson County.
Join us in congratulating Dr. Davis on this important leadership role
