Palliative Care Coordinator
Audrey grew up in Jasper, AL and graduated from Walker High School. Nursing is a second career for Audrey as she was a Paramedic in Shelby, Chilton and Jefferson counties for 17 years. While working for Regional Paramedical Services, she was able to gain valuable management and leadership experience by working her way up from dispatch, field medic, supervisor and finally Operations Manager of the Southern division. She also had many opportunities to teach EMT didactics and skills at Jefferson State, McAdory High School and Gardendale High School. During her time as a medic, she developed a profound love for the geriatric community. After 17 years, Audrey decided to pursue a career in nursing. After earning her ADN, she began her career at UAB on the Hospitalist 2 med/surg unit in 2019. She advanced to Assistant Nurse Manager of the unit in 2021.
Soon after, she was afforded the opportunity to transition from bedside nursing to Palliative Care Clinical Coordinator for patients with serious illness. About this position, Audrey says, “This is where my heart has been guiding me throughout my nursing career. I feel it is our purpose in healthcare to meet our patients where they are and to support them through their worst moments. I look forward to serving the serious illness community for many years.”
Audrey and her husband Joel reside in Alabaster, AL. They have 5 children and 4 grandchildren who they enjoy gathering with as often as possible.
