U.S. News & World Report has ranked UAB Hospital number 23 among the "Best Hospitals for Ear, Nose & Throat" in the country. This is UAB Otolaryngology's fifth consecutive year appearing in the top 25.
Justin Turner, M.D., Ph.D., professor and chair of the UAB Department of Otolaryngology expressed his thoughts on the department's consistent successful ranking.
"We are proud to be ranked among the top 25 hospitals for ear, nose, and throat care for the fifth year in a row," Turner said. "This recognition is based on departmental reputation and, more importantly, by a host of quality metrics."
He added that the ranking reflects the hard work, dedication, and commitment to patient care within the department.
"It is a testament to the outstanding care delivered by our staff, providers, and the entire UAB Health System."
To generate the rankings, U.S. News & World Report evaluated 137 hospitals providing ear, nose, and throat care and ranked the top 50 "that treat a high number of challenging patients for major head, neck and cranialfacial conditions, salivary gland procedures, and other diagnoses," according to theU.S. News & World Report website. UAB Hospital ranks No. 23 out of 4,855 hospitals in the nation for ear, nose and throat.
