UAB Hospital tops the list of best hospitals in Alabama again, according to U.S. News & World Report.

Additionally, the magazine named the Department of Otolaryngology a top program in the nation in the 2020-2021 Best Hospital rankings.

This year the program earned its highest ranking to date at No. 22 in the country for Ear, Nose, and Throat.

For the report, U.S. News analyzed data from nearly 5,000 medical centers and survey responses from more than 30,000 physicians. The ear, nose, and throat rating is based on analysis of various data categories, including patient outcomes such as patient survival, volume of high-risk patients, patient experience, nurse staffing, and advanced clinical technologies. Each hospital is given a score based on these ratings and the 50 top-scoring hospitals are nationally ranked.

With an overall score of 72 out of 100, the UAB Department of Otolaryngology received the highest marks in discharging patients to home, number of patients, nurse staffing, and patient services.
