Kristi Gidley, PA-C, MSHA, has been named Associate Vice President of Practice Expansion at UAB Medicine, effective Oct. 1, 2024. In this newly created role, Kristi will focus on the strategic and operational management of physician relationships and services within the UAB Health System. She will oversee the development of professional service agreements and community practice operations while supporting value-based care initiatives by aligning clinical practices with Health System metrics.
"UAB Otolaryngology has been my home away from home for 15 years," Gidley said. "I am grateful for the many friendships and connections I have made both at UAB and across the otolaryngology community at large. It has been a joy to work with all of you and I am eternally grateful for the friendships and the trust you bestowed upon me. The best is yet to come for UAB ENT and I will remain the department’s biggest cheerleader."
Gidley has served at UAB since 2010, when she first joined the Department of Otolaryngology as a Physician Assistant. For the last nine years, Gidley has served as the inaugural Executive Administrator for the Department of Otolaryngology, where she directed strategic oversight of all departmental mission areas—education, clinical care, and research—and collaborated with Health System and Heersink School of Medicine administration on key initiatives. In her tenure at UAB, she has served on numerous committees and is recognized as a trusted leader and strategic partner. She has also served as Interim Executive Administrator in the Department of Urology since February 2024.
Gidley holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Emory University and a Master of Science in Health Administration from UAB School of Health Professions. She has been recognized several times by UAB Medicine and Heersink School of Medicine for her outstanding service, mostly recently winning the Dean’s Excellence Award for Staff in 2023.
The new role will apply data-driven strategies to attract and retain a competitive workforce, streamline physician recruitment and onboarding, and foster collaboration between clinical departments and partner facilities. By ensuring alignment between strategy and departmental plans, this position will play a crucial role in optimizing resources and enhancing operational efficiency across UAB Health System's large enterprise.
