UAB Department of Orthopaedic Surgery PGY3 Resident Kevin Wall, M.D., MPH, received the American College of Surgeons Excellence in Research Award in the orthopaedic surgery category.
Wall won the award for his abstract “Nerve Block With Liposomal Bupivacaine Yields Fewer Complications And Similar Pain Relief When Compared To An Interscalene Catheter For Arthroscopic Shoulder Surgery: A Randomized Controlled Trial.”
Wall joins a small, national group of 24 authors who were identified for this award, and his abstract will be recognized during the 2022 Owen H. Wangensteen Scientific Forum Dedication, Excellence in Research, and Resident Research Scholarship session in October.
In addition to being highlighted during the 2022 Clinical Congress and receiving a monetary prize, Wall–as an Excellence in Research Award recipient– will be featured in a supplemental issue of the Journal of the American College of Surgeons.
“I’m proud to represent the UAB Department of Orthopaedic Surgery as well as the residency program,” said Wall. “The program creates excellent opportunities for learning not only in the clinical setting, but also on the academic and research side of orthopaedic surgery, something that is invaluable to all residents.”
