UAB Sports and Exercise Medicine (SEM) is pleased to recognize Physical Therapist Justin Kirk, PT, DPT, and Jeremy Pritchett at the upcoming UAB Men’s Basketball game against Rice University Owls during halftime.
As a local PT working at Therapy South, Kirk sees many UAB Department of Orthopaedic Surgery Section of Sports Medicine patients. Amit Momaya, M.D., chief of the section of sports medicine, notes that he has seen incredible patient outcomes with Kirk.
“As a community partner, Justin helps so many of our athletes rehab their sports injuries and get back to doing what they love,” said Momaya. “He perfectly encapsulates what UAB Sports and Exercise Medicine stands for and the excellent patient care that we strive for.”
Pritchett was a patient of Sumayah Abed, M.D., a practitioner at the Hoover clinic and assistant professor in UAB’s Department of Family and Community Medicine. Originally seen for kidney stones, Pritchett was inspired by his wife’s second pregnancy to get healthier and have more energy.
Pritchett worked with the department’s Fitness, Lifestyle and Optimal Wellness, or FLOW, program, to take steps toward a healthier lifestyle and ultimately ended up becoming much more active and losing 36 pounds at the time of his interview.
“Jeremy reminds us all of the power of positive change and a healthy lifestyle,” said Professor and Chair of the Department of Family and Community Medicine, Irfan Asif, M.D. “Within our community, we strive to demonstrate the importance of staying active for personal health, and Jeremy has shown that in the best way.”
UAB Men’s Basketball, ranked number one in Group A of the Conference USA, will face the Rice University Owls on Thursday, Feb. 17 at 7 p.m. Get your tickets now.
