Drs. Eugene Brabston, Aaron Casp, and Amit Momaya, faculty members in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery’s Sports and Exercise Medicine Section, are co-authors of articles that were recently published by notable medical journals.
Drs. Eugene Brabston and Amit Momaya are co-authors of an article titled “Partial rotator cuff repair versus debridement for irreparable rotator cuff tears: A systematic review.”
The article, published in the Journal of Orthopaedics, looks at massive irreparable rotator cuff tears (MIRCT) and compares the outcomes of a partial rotator cuff repair to debridement (removal of damaged tissues) when it comes to treatment options. Study results show that both treatment options provide acceptable clinical outcomes in patients with MIRCT.
Additionally, Drs. Amit Momaya and Aaron Casp are co-authors of an article titled “Anchor-Based Meniscal Ramp Repair.”
This article, published in Arthroscopy Techniques, describes an “all-suture anchor-based repair of a meniscal ramp lesion.” According to the article, meniscal ramp lesions are difficult to see on MRI or during arthroscopy, causing them to be underdiagnosed. The article provides a detailed overview of the anchor-based meniscal ramp repair technique, which shows several advantages over traditional repair methods.
Our Department of Orthopaedic Surgery faculty members in the Sports and Exercise Medicine Section are consistently involved in research and clinical trials to ensure that the best possible practices are being implemented in our clinical care and we continue to provide the best possible outcomes to our patients.
