Department of Orthopaedic Surgery Assistant Professors Lisa Kafchisnki, M.D. and Phillip Ashley, M.D., will join the Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program leadership team.
Kafchinski was named associate program director while Ashley was named director of surgical skills. Both will support Program Director and Associate Professor Michael Johnson, M.D.
In her role, Kafchinski will chair the Clinical Competency Committee, work to enhance the educational curriculum in areas that are essential to a successful career as a surgeon (practice management, job evaluation and more), and expand the program's outreach to medical students.
In his new role, Ashley will coordinate hands-on surgical skill modules, evaluate and implement new technologies in skill development and work toward establishing a surgical skills curriculum. Johnson recognizes Kafchinski and Ashley for their excellent record and passion for teaching surgical skills.
“Dr. Kafchinski’s experience and demonstrated excellence in resident education will be great asset to our program,” said Johnson. “And Dr. Ashley’s leadership will be instrumental as we grow resident competencies in surgical skills. We’re thrilled to have both join the support team for our world-class Orthopaedic Surgery Residency program,” said Johnson.
