This month, the UAB Department of Orthopaedic Surgery welcomed musculoskeletal oncologist Lisa Kafchinski, M.D., as an assistant professor.
Dr. Kafchinski graduated summa cum laude from Georgetown University and received Alpha Omega Alpha honors from the University of Nevada School of Medicine. She completed her orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Utah and musculoskeletal oncology fellowship at the University of Toronto.
After completing her fellowship, Dr. Kafchinski joined Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in El Paso, Texas as an assistant professor and was there for over three years. Her clinical interests include the treatment of bone and soft tissue cancers in both adult and pediatric patients, metastatic bone disease, limb salvage procedures, and the study of resiliency in patients with cancer.
