The Department of Urology is proud to spotlight Jordan Favors, M.S., Program Manager I, whose commitment and hard work reflect UAB's core values.
Growing up in Birmingham, Favors has built a three-year career at UAB and has flourished in her current role, specifically as a Fellowship Program Coordinator for Endourology and Genitourinary Reconstruction and Prosthetics. Even though she has enjoyed working in the administrative office of healthcare, Favors shares that she thought her career path would go a different way.
“I wanted to be a doctor for most of my life, but a personal tragedy during college changed that path for me,” Favors said. “Over time, I realized that making a meaningful difference in people's lives is possible in many ways, not just within a hospital.”
She shares more about her taste in music, a piece of advice to remember, and why she enjoys working for UAB.
How long have you been with UAB, and why do you enjoy it?
Favors: Since college, but I have been on the employee side for about three years. The company culture is extremely positive, and the opportunities to grow are endless.
What’s something people might be surprised to learn about you?
Favors: I love classic rock/metal. Really just 60s/70s music in general.
What advice would you give to someone new in your role or department?
Favors: Learn to accept failure. Use it as an opportunity to grow and mature.
