Medical Alumni Association hosts its 51st Annual Alumni Weekend

The 51st Annual Medical Alumni Weekend began Friday, Feb. 23 at Volker Hall, where the Medical Alumni Association (MAA) and UAB Heersink School of Medicine Advancement staff greeted the many alumni for the activities planned for Friday afternoon.

Building Medicine: Updates on Heersink School of Medicine Facilities

This is the first of a new series of articles in which we will provide quarterly updates on the major space and facilities projects ongoing in the Heersink School of Medicine. For those of you directly involved in these projects, we will continue to interact with you on a regular basis as they progress. Currently, Heersink oversees 1.8 million square feet of space dedicated to education, administrative support, and research. In addition to this Heersink space, clinical spaces are managed by the hospital planning group.

My name is Jada Williams, and I am a junior majoring in public health with minors in art studio and chemistry. This summer, I had the incredible opportunity to be an intern with the Summer Health Professions Education Program (SHPEP) at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. This six-week program works in collaboration with the UAB Heersink School of Medicine and reshaped my ambitions in ways I could have never imagined.

UAB’s annual open enrollment for benefits began Oct. 20. Eligible employees can choose among dental, vision, and health insurance plans, plus voluntary life and accidental death and dismemberment insurance and tax-deferred spending accounts for health and dependent care for 2024.
