The University of Alabama at Birmingham Service Awards Program recognizes employees who have demonstrated long-term commitment to the institution, honoring those who reach five-year service milestones. The program celebrates individuals who have completed five or more years of service to UAB, with recognition at each five-year increment. The presentation for non-hospital employees will take place in March for those who completed their milestone year by Dec. 31 of the preceding year.
The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences is proud to recognize the following faculty and staff members for their years of service to UAB:
- Angela McCombs, Grants Administrator — 30 years
- Julie Hill, Researcher Specialist — 15 years
- Ram Prasad, Ph.D., Scientist II — 15 years
- Joe Talty, Business Officer — 10 years
- Gianfranco Bianco, Ph.D., Assistant Professor — 10 years
- Mitzi Swift, Clinical Research Coordinator III — 5 years
These milestones reflect sustained dedication to UAB’s mission pillars of education, research and patient care.
