Neurosurgery December 02, 2025

Thirteen providers from the University of Alabama at Birmingham Department of Neurosurgery have been recognized by the UAB Office of Patient Experience and Engagement for delivering exceptional patient care during fiscal year 2025.

This honor places them among the UAB Medicine providers who excel in patient experience, based on feedback gathered through Medallia, the health system’s patient experiences survey tool. To receive this recognition, providers must demonstrate consistently outstanding performance across measures such as listening attentively, showing compassion, providing clear explanations, involving patients in care decisions and delivering exceptional overall care.

Across UAB Medicine, hundreds of physicians and advanced practice providers earned this distinction for their commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care. "Patient experience directly reflects the empathy, communication, and skill our providers offer in every interaction," said James Markert, M.D., MPH, James Garber Galbraith Endowed Chair of Neurosurgery. "I am incredibly proud of our team for receiving this recognition and for the dedication they demonstrate to our patients every day."
